Ingredients:
Blueberry Syrup
- 1½ cups frozen/fresh blueberries
- ¾ cup water
- ¼ cup sugar
Basil Simple Syrup
- 1 cup packed fresh basil leaves
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
Lemonade
- 1 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 4-5 cups water
Instructions:
Blueberry Syrup:
- In a small saucepan add the blueberries, water, and sugar over medium heat. Stirring occasionally simmer until sugar is dissolved and blueberries are soft and easily mashable with a spoon. Then strain the mixture using a fine mesh sieve and cheese cloth, press down on blueberries with a spoon until all the liquid is drained out. Set aside to cool completely.
Basil Simple Syrup:
- In another saucepan add the basil, water, and sugar over low heat. Heat until sugar is fully dissolved, about 3-5 minutes. Take off heat and set aside to steep 10-15 minutes. Then, strain using a fine mesh sieve and press down on leaves with a spoon until no more liquid drains out of them.
Lemonade:
- Combine the blueberry syrup, basil simple syrup, and lemonade altogether in a large pitcher. Fill into individual glasses and to garnish add ice, fresh basil leaves, blueberries, and a slice of lemon. Serve and Enjoy!
Notes:
• Try the lemonade with your preferred alcohol to make it a tasty cocktail. It turned out great with some gin!
• If you like your lemonade more tart add more lemon juice and water OR if you like it more sweet you can add more sugar to your liking.
• Refrigerate and keep left over basil simple syrup in an air tight jar. Good for 1-2 weeks.
